HE'S "UR" GUY
3/10/20

Singer/songwriter John-Robert is giving us the feels with his latest release “Urs.” The 19-year-old, who recently signed with Warner and Nice Life, creates an amalgam of pop, folk and soul in his music, seen in his latest track. Hailing from the small town of Edinburg, VA, John-Robert often performed at local open mic nights, cafes and county fairs while using YouTube as a global platform to release music.

Just last year, he dropped his first track “Adeline” and has garnered 780k Spotify streams since on the heart-wrenching ballad. Having recently performed with Ethan Gruska at the Echo earlier this month, John-Robert is gearing up for a busy year as he plans to release plenty of new music.

Until then, stream “Urs” below.

HONUA INKS TWO
3/6/20

Honua Music has inked songwriter Alida and Toronto producer Sean Fischer, a.k.a. French Braids, to a publishing deal. Alida was most recently featured on and co-wrote Robin Schulz’s latest single “In Your Eyes”— a record that scored over 15m streams during the first month of its release. Fischer, who has produced music for artists such as Banners, Tim Atlas and Tyler Shaw, releases electronic music under his alias French Braids and has tracks on labels such as Armada and Ultra as well as official remixes for Zara Larsson and Mansionair.

Co-founded by Ron Moss and Grammy-nominated producer Axident, Honua Music is celebrating its 10th year in business. The boutique publishing company boasts a catalog that includes A List artists like Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, Zedd and Jessie J. Previously leading an executive team at A&M Records, Moss brings his knowledge of publishing and A&R to the table, with past signings such as Avril Lavigne and MIKA.

Honua Music's Head of Creative Noah Gopen also plays an influential role in signing new talent and placing records, like when he placed Sage The Gemini's platinum selling single "Now and Later" at 20-years-old. He also took part in Alida's latest feature with Schulz. In an effort to expand, Gopen has also brought on Roberto Garcia Caro as another key player in the creative department.

THE PINK SLIPS - L.A. GARAGE PUNK FOR THE OPEN ROAD
2/26/20

Part of an L.A. underground scene that includes fellow youthful rockers Liily, Starcrawler and Poppy Jean Crawford, The Pink Slips are garage rock with a pedigree. Frontwoman Grace McKagan is the daughter of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan, as is evidenced in her authentic growl and snarl.

Their latest self-released single, the grunge-infused "Miles Away," came out on 2/21 and sonically features guitar riffage perfectly suited for a top-down early spring road trip. More new songs are on the way soon, and the band will be appearing live in a residency at Harvard & Stone in Hollywood 3/16, 3/23 and 3/30, and on 3/17 at Moroccan Lounge in DTLA opening for Louis XIV.
