Warner Chappell Music Mexico has inked Mon Laferte, Chile's best-selling artist of the 21st century, to a worldwide admin deal.
Laferte, who has 11m monthly Spotify listeners, also a record for a Chilean act, was previously signed to WCM more than a decade ago. “I’m really excited for what’s ahead," she said. "They were the first ones to have faith in me.”
The singer-composer, whose work runs the gamut from rock to cumbia to salsa, recently wrapped her Autopoetica world tour, although she does have a 10/23 date in her adopted home base of Mexico City. Netflix has also been streaming the doc Mon Laferte, Te Amo since 8/1.
Laferte has shown many sides over the years, from performing on the Chilean reality series Rojo to fronting the Mexican metal band Mystica Girls. She’s also collaborated with Gwen Stefani and Juanes, with whom she won a Latin Grammy in 2018 for the single “Amárrame.”
"We initially signed her back in 2013 when she had just moved to Mexico, and it was perfect timing—an opportunity to understand her dreams and aspirations from the start," said WCM President/U.S. Latin & Latin America Gustavo Menéndez, pictured right of Laferte and WCM Mexico Managing Director Carlos Ruiz. "I am personally very happy to have her back. This return signifies a beautiful full-circle moment for us.”
