WHAT IT IS: Sinaloan Joss Favela is a chart-topping, award-winning songwriter, and recording artist known for his versatility in Mexican folk music traditions, such as banda and norteño. As the youngest person ever to receive the Composer of the Year award from ASCAP, Favela also has multiple Latin Grammy nominations under his belt. The rising star hit the Top 10 of the Regional Mexican chart and #1 at radio in Mexico with his hit single, “El Alumno” f/Jessi Uribe. Now, Favela is gearing up to release a spring EP entitled Mis Compas. The seven-track set will feature collaborations with the likes of Banda MS, Gera MX and more. The project’s first single will be “Somos” f/Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camcho. Stay tuned for more new music later this year.
