Keep Cool/RCA’s Lucky Daye has dropped his inaugural Spotify Singles x Are & Be recordings.

As part of the series, the Grammy-nominated R&B crooner showcased his versatility by covering Marvin Gaye’s “Mercy Mercy Me” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of late star’s 1971 album, What’s Going On, as well as a live version of his single, “Floods,” from his 2019 debut album, Painted.

“[Recording ‘Mercy Mercy Me’] was so different because I had to listen to everything and catch every little detail he [Marvin Gaye] did because I didn’t wanna take his song to a lower standard, but also wanted to infuse it with my own flavor,” shared Daye.

Most recently, the NoLa-born, L.A.-based artist dropped his project, Table for Two, in February, which featured all-female duets with stars like Tiana Major9, Ari Lennox, Yebba and more.

Daye becomes the third-ever artist to participate in the Are & Be Spotify Singles series, which follows GIVEON's and Chloe x Halle’s releases last year. Spotify Singles has generated 5b+ streams across 630+ tracks from more than 300 artists. Listen to the full list of singles here.
