BRAZIL'S MONTE JOINS UMPG
7/8/20

Marisa Monte and her Monte Songs have singed an exclusive, global administration deal with Universal Music Publishing Group.

The Brazilian star said, “I am very happy for this partnership between my catalog as a composer and a company with a female soul. Universal Music Publishing is globally chaired by a woman. UMPG Latin is led by a strong, female president who is surrounded by a capable and talented team. Care, delicacy, empathy and all the feminine intelligence at the service of music. Long live the balance and the union of forces.”

Monte, a four-time Latin Grammy winner, has had multiple chart-toppers in Brazil, among them Mais, Verde, Anil, Amarelo, Cor-de-Rosa e Carvão, Barulhinho Bom and Memórias, Crônicas, e Declarações de Amor. Infusing her Brazilian pop with elements of rock, samba, jazz, folk and opera, her hits include “Ainda Bem,” “Depois,” "Beija Eu” and “Amor I Love You.”

As a producer, Monte worked on Omelete Man by Carlinhos Brown and Tudo Azul by Velha Guarda da Portela; her collaborators include David Byrne, Marc Ribot, Philip Glass and Devendra Banhart.
