Adam Parness has been tapped to join Spotify as Global Head of Publisher Licensing in NYC, reporting to General Counsel and Global Head of Content Licensing Horacio Gutierrez.
His responsibilities involve directing the streaming service's relationships with the publishing industry and partnering more deeply with songwriters and music publishers. The hire comes as the DSP ramps up its not-so-secret "Secret Genius" campaign to showcase the work of songwriters and producers.
Parness, who most recently held a similar position at Pandora, has also worked for Amazon (where he played a key role in launching Prime Music) and Rhapsody. He begins his tenure at Spotify on 10/30, giving him ample time to prep a masterful Swedish chef costume for Halloween.
