THE ROOTS & GRACE BOWERS GET "AMPLIFIED"

WhyHunger has unveiled the lineup for its second annual concert kickoff for the Hungerthon fundraiser "Amplified."

Presented by EY (Ernst & Young) and sponsored by iHeartRadio, the event will transpire on 10/15 at New York's Irving Plaza with performances by The Roots and Grace Bowers.

Founded by the late Harry Chapin and radio DJ Bill Ayers, WhyHunger has been fighting food insecurity since 1975.

"We’re thrilled to hold our second annual 'Amplified,' a joyous celebration of music that raises awareness of our important mission," said WhyHunger Executive Director Jenique Jones. "Nutritious food is a human right but one often denied. We’re proud of our work worldwide to address the social, environmental, racial and economic injustice at the root of hunger, and we hope you’ll join us in this ongoing journey toward justice."

WhyHunger provides funding, training and other resources to grassroots organizations across the U.S. and in 23 countries. Over the last three years, it's connected more than 3.5m people to nutritious, locally produced food and invested $6.8m to support sustainable agriculture and effective solutions to hunger. The nonprofit's Artists Against Hunger & Poverty program has engaged countless musicians and raised millions for community-based partners and programs.
