DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE DEVOURS BOX OFFICE

Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine hauled in $438.3m worldwide and $205m domestically over the weekend, making it the biggest R-rated opening of all time.

Starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman resurrecting his X-Men Wolverine character, the Disney-distributed film beat the previous record holder, 2016's Deadpool, and saw the biggest global opening since 2022's Avatar: The Way of Water.

And that's just the tip of the multiverse. As noted by Deadline, Deadpool & Wolverine also had the eighth-biggest opening domestic weekend ever, the fifth-biggest superhero opening weekend (behind Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avengers: Infinity War and The Avengers) and the second-biggest opening weekend for a third installment (again, behind Avengers: Endgame).

The soundtrack isn't too shabby either. Music by the likes of *NSYNC, The Platters, Montell Jordan, Stray Kids, AC/DC, Green Day and Patsy Cline are sprinkled throughout the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the 34th consecutive Marvel Cinematic Universe film to debut at #1, which is ironic considering this is the 34th consecutive article we've posted that nobody will read.
