FUTURE, METRO AND LAMAR'S "LIKE THAT" EXPLODES

Not only are Future and Metro Boomin in line for the year’s biggest debut, with We Don’t Trust You (Boominati/Republic/Freebandz/Epic), it appears the dynamic duo has one of 2024’s runaway smashes in “Like That” f/Kendrick Lamar (see below). The track is on pace to earn the biggest streaming week of the year with 50m+ streams (U.S.).

There are many layers to why the song hit #1 on Spotify and Apple Music U.S. and is reaching new streaming peaks daily; any Lamar feature is bound to be special, but getting the West Coast superstar to reconnect with Future for the first time since their 2017 Grammy-winning collab, Jay Rock’s “King’s Dead,” was guaranteed to get fans excited.

But what cements the song into rap-beef history is the fact that it’s at the expense of Drake. With each passing day more and more listeners are wondering why three hip-hop heavyweights are taking shots at the current MVP. The saga builds as Drake responds from the stage during his tour, leaves a comment on social media or posts an Instagram story.

“Like That” is also putting Lamar’s catalog back onto streaming charts; at Apple Music and Spotify, K.Dot has multiple tracks among the Top 200 greatest gainers.

Another interesting wrinkle: Lamar’s manager, Anthony Saleh, has reappeared and is once again handling Future.

Whether you’re Team Drake or Team Future x Metro x Lamar, the beef is a major victory for hip-hop, the camps involved and Epic. Everybody’s a winner in this battle.
