The other performing songwriters in contention are Bryan Adams, the Guess Who’s Randy Bachman & Burton Cummings, Tracy Chapman, George Clinton, The Doobie BrothersTom Johnston, Patrick Simmons & Michael McDonald, David Gates, Heart’s Ann Wilson & Nancy Wilson and Kenny Loggins.

In the non-performing-songwriters category, Tony Macaulay ("Build Me Up Buttercup"), Narada Michael Walden ("Freeway of Love") and Dean Pitchford ("Footloose"), as well as L. Russell Brown, Dean Dillon, Dennis Lambert & Brian Potter, Hillary Lindsey, Timbaland, Roger Nichols and Maurice Starr, could be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Eligible voters have until 12/27 to submit ballots indicating their selections of three performing-songwriter nominees and three non-performing-songwriter nominees.
