Latin-trap pioneer Arcángel and longtime manager Omar "Omi" Rivera are reveling in the global success of Sr. Santos (Rimas), which opened at #35 on this week's HITS Top 50—the biggest U.S. solo debut of Arcángel's career.
The album, a tribute to the artist's late brother (killed last year in a car accident at the age of 21), is a return to form for the Puerto Rican rapper, who embraced his trap roots and tapped an all-star cast of Latin stars, including Bad Bunny, Myke Towers, Duki, Bizzarap and labelmate Eladio Carrión, for the 18-track set.
The Bunny-assisted "La Jumpa" has exploded on charts worldwide, debuting at #7 on Spotify global last week. It was added to Today's Top Hits on 12/9.
“It’s always been an honor to work with a legend like Arcángel,” said Rivera. “Creating this new album was a challenge as we pushed through and motivated him to get back into the studio while he grieved his brother. Even though there were obstacles, I’m always learning from Arcángel, who's dedicated to his craft and always wants to deliver the best production, especially in honor of his brother. Every aspect of this album was meticulously planned, particularly the features.”
