MUSICARES, ACADEMY PLEDGE $1M TO FIRE RELIEF

Like many in the music community, MusiCares and the Recording Academy are extending a hand to those affected by the fires ravaging the Los Angeles area. On Thursday (1/9), the orgs announced the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to Support Music Professionals fund, with a combined pledge of $1m.

"It is a frightening and heartbreaking time, and our thoughts are with everyone affected," Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. said. "As the situation unfolds, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting the safety and well-being of the music community.

MusicCares provided hope and further detail in an Instagram post. "MusiCares is offering support to those in need. If you’ve worked in the music industry for five years or more, you may qualify for immediate assistance, including $1,500 in financial aid and $500 in food vouchers."
