The crate-digging music supervisors of Euphoria, Power Book IV: Force and Peacemaker caught the ears of Shazam users this past week with some seriously deep tracks.
As usual, HBO’s Euphoria leads the way on the Biggest Movers list, reaching into the way-back machine for Bobby Darin’s 1964 version of “More” (Capitol), the oft-covered theme song from the Italian doc Mondo Cane.
Starz’ Power Book IV: Force lands two songs in the Top 5 of the Shazam USA Biggest Movers list: “Firm and Strong” (Mixpak), a 2018 release from the Jamaican singer Popcaan (pictured), and Trippie Redd’s “Love Scars,” a track issued on SoundCloud in 2016 that was part of his first 10K Projects mixtape, A Love Letter to You, which came out a year later.
Chicago hard rockers The Last Vegas make the list with their 2009 record “Apologize” (Eleven Seven Music) after its use on HBO Max’s Peacemaker.
One new song makes the Biggest Movers list: “Rocking a Cardigan in Atlanta” (Social Currency/Empire), the two-minute ditty from Elmo-voiced Lil Shordie Scott.
Popcaan is also in the Top 5 of the UK Biggest Gainers list, where Val Doonican’s version of Bob Lind’s “Elusive Butterfly,” a Top 5 U.K. hit in 1966, takes a ride to the top courtesy of a sync on BBC One’s Call the Midwife.
