Management firm YM&U Group has promoted Matt Colon to Global President of Music.
He will continue to oversee the company’s U.S. music division and lead global strategy for, and the integration of, the U.K. and U.S. music divisions. Colon will also spur growth with new manager acquisitions and other key hires.
YM&U’s roster spans Common, Steve Aoki, blink-182 and Travis Barker in the U.S. and James Arthur, Gary Barlow, Years & Years and Jesy Nelson in the U.K.
“Matt has a history of being at the forefront of emerging cultural and tech trends, is a strategic and astute leader and has great taste,” said YM&U Group CEO Mary Bekhait. “Bringing our music divisions even closer together will enable us to better serve our global clients and provide more opportunities for our colleagues.”
Colon and longtime client Aoki were early adopters in the NFT space. With Aoki and fellow YM&U client 3LAU, the company has grossed nearly $30m in NFT sales. Colon has likewise been involved in YM&U clients’ forays into e-sports, helping Aoki co-found the Rogue organization and brokering a deal for him to be the first artist to perform a live concert on Twitch.
Colon previously held the position of Managing Director of U.S. Music. He joined YM&U group in 2017, when it acquired Deckstar, which he co-founded.
