In the latest addition to the cooler full of pacts linking boomer bands with boutique beers, Styx has announced a collaboration with Pittsburgh’s Voodoo Brewery for the Oh Mama Signature Lager. The band’s 1979 hit “Renegade” has become a fixture at Steelers games, played during the third quarter to fire up that Steel Curtain defense. The deal, naturally, was brewed up by the team at Primary Wave, who dubbed it the perfect pairing.
Everybody sing along! Oh Mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law / Lawman has put an end to my running… eh, you know it. If you've been over the legal drinking age for a couple of decades, at least.
Earlier this year Iron Maiden debuted their Trooper British Ale with the U.K.’s Robinson Brewery.
Styx returns to the road on 9/4 with a show at Summerfest in Milwaukee; if you want to wash down your Major Goolsby's burger with Oh Mama during that event, you'll have to BYOB. But there will be Miller Lite.
Stay tuned for more suds from the PW folks, notably Larry's Lambic, which will get you totally Mestel-ed.
