TOP 100 WEEKLY MARKETSHARE:
HEAT CHECK

Republic
continues its momentum into 2021, hitting the trifecta with Taylor Swift, Pop Smoke and Ariana Grande, who occupy the #1, 3 and 4 positions on the year’s first Top 50 albums chart. That dazzling display of star power has led to a 25% slab of the Top 100 Weekly Marketshare pie for Monte Lipman’s high-revving machine, four percentage points above John Janick’s IGA, as the sister labels provide UMG with 46% of its 59% distributors’ share.

Our Top 100 Weekly Marketshare Chart, which is determined by the number and placement of each label’s releases in that week’s Top 100, shows the relative performance of the major labels by percentage of the top tier of the overall business.

The new chart reveals the labels making the biggest impact during that particular seven-day period—meaning the order of battle could differ dramatically from one week to the next, particularly when superstar releases hit the market.
