Thanks to their star-studded Zoom parties, Richard and Demi Weitz, have raised big sums for worthy causes. Most recently, the WME agent (who reps Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais, among other celebs) and his smart, committed 17-year-old daughter have raised some $140k to support Cedars Sinai’s COVID-19 response.
The 4/11 call featured music from Randy Newman, Marcus Mumford, James Bay, Liam Payne, Charlie Puth, Weird Al, Curt Smith of Tears for Fears with daughter Diva (pictured), Alan Menken and daughter Anna, and several more. Mayor Eric Garcetti opened the call with a few remarks; Clive Davis received birthday wishes, and Amy Adams, David Foster and Carol Bayer Sager were among the 450 or so notables on the scene.
Who’ll join in next time? As word spreads of these gatherings, we’re thinking tons more. You can contribute to the cause here.
