CHART STORY: A STAR SHINES ON

Interscope’s Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper-led A Star Is Born soundtrack spends its second week at #1 on the HITS Top 50 Chart, tacking on another 134k as the set approaches gold certification. The week’s highest-charting debut, however, belongs to QC/Motown/Capitol’s Quavo, whose Quavo Huncho bows at #2 with approximately 99k.

Another noteworthy new release can be found in 10 Summers/Interscope’s Ella Mai, which rounds out the Top 5 while moving 64k.

And as YMCMB/Republic’s Drake finishes up seven sold-out shows in Los Angeles—three at Staples, four at The Forum—his 2018 blockbuster, Scorpion, creeps back up towards the Top 5, landing at #6 with nearly 50k.

When it comes to marketshare, UMG leads with 73%, WMG follows with 17% and SME is #3 with 9%, while the indies claim 1%.

Streeting this week are projects by Freebandz/Epic/Grade A/Interscope’s Future & Juice WRLD, Lava/Republic’s Greta Van Fleet, Reprise’s Disturbed, QC/Motown/Capitol’s Lil Yachty and Right Hand Music/RCA’s Khalid, as well as Hollywood’s Queen-filled Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack.

In other news, everyone in the HITS offices thinks they’re going to win the one-billion-dollar Mega Millions Jackpot because they each put in $20. Their odds of winning are now said to be one in 292.2m. We can’t wait for the HITS-branded Caribbean island.
