THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

As I was listening to my custom country playlist on Spotify this weekend, I couldn’t help but notice two of our biggest artists at the format have been embraced by the genre: Beyoncé and Post Malone. Having gone away from the Rhythm sound for now, Posty has a multiformat monster hit with “I Had Some Help” f/Morgan Wallen while Bey continues to see some country love with her latest album, COWBOY CARTER. I know how popular the Country format has become, but to see A-list artists from the Rhythm format step away will make it that much harder in the future in terms of both current hits for the format and the gold category down the road. Let’s hope more of our artists don’t bolt for other formats.

Dixie and ICLG had a very strong week on the chart as they see GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” (CMG/Interscope) enter the Top 10 thanks to a 370-spin increase. As I write this, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” (pgLang) is #1 on the building chart and by the looks of it, should hold there for a few weeks. Keep in mind this track has been on the charts for just five weeks. Dixie also has Eminem’s brand new “Houdini” (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), which is really lighting up the streams and was this week’s Most Added record, as well as GloRilla’s new “Wanna Be” w/Megan Thee Stallion, which got 20 adds and has a great buzz. J. Cole’s “H.Y.B.” f/Bas & Central Cee (Cole World/Interscope) is now Top 25 as Ice Spice’s “Gimmie a Light” (10K Projects/Capitol) gains 300 spins and moves to #26 this week.

RCA’s Lori G has Bryson Tiller’s “Whatever She Wants” (Trapsoul) moving in to the Top 5 thanks to another increase of 380 spins this week.

Over at Epic, Sackheim and Dontay see Tyla’s “Jump” (FAX) hop to #28 after adding 160 spins to her total. They are also impacting 21 Savage & Summer Walker’s “prove it” this week.

Angelo Scrobe and the PULSE/Concord team see Tommy Richman’s “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” (ISO Supremacy) join the Top 10 at #7. He gains a whopping 745 spins and will be in the Top 5 by next week. The streaming monster is also really taking off at Top 40 and has held steady in the Top 3 on Spotify’s Global since it topped the chart; it’s currently holding at #1 on Spotify U.S.

B Dot Scales and Warner have Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” perched at #11, and the goal this week is to enter the Top 10. The track is also Top 5 on Shazam U.S. and Top 10 Global. They’ve also got Saweetie’s “NANi” entering the chart at an impressive #24! She’s up 500 spins and continues to close out the panel.

Michael Williams and Open Shift/gamma. team continue to drive Sexyy Red’s “Get It Sexyy” towards the Top 10; she ascends #16-12.

And at Arista, Nick P welcomes Skylar Blatt’s “Wake Up” f/Chris Brown to the Top 20 this week. She adds another 270 spins to her total and looks to find new believers this week.

Biggest Increase:
Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” (pgLang/Interscope/ICLG)
Tommy Richman’s “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” (PULSE/Concord/ISO Supremacy)
Saweetie’s “NANi” (Warner)
Bryson Tiller’s “Whatever She Wants” (Trapsoul/RCA)
GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” (CMG/Interscope/ICLG)

Buzz Records:
21 Savage & Summer Walker’s “prove it” (Epic)
Eminem’s “Houdini” (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope/ICLG)
Central Cee f/Lil Baby’s “BAND4BAND” (Columbia)
Tyla’s “Jump” (FAX/Epic)
GloRilla w/Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be” (CMG/Interscope/ICLG)
