WHAT IT IS: Born and raised in the Johnson Holmes Project in North Philadelphia, Mylo Waiters—neé Martell Waiters Jr.—found an escape in singing and dancing. His musical journey began as part of boy band Project 2one5, which was inked to L.A. Reid before disbanding in 2020. Since then, he’s signed with Blackground Records 2.0. Having performed at the NOVO for the BET Experience at the BET Awards and opened for acts like Trey Songz and Brandy, among others, Waiters has become known for bringing classic R&B vibes with a touch of new-school R&B. His debut single, “Self Love,” garnered early support at Amazon and on Apple’s Day One and Brown Sugar playlists. He’s finishing his forthcoming debut EP with producer Sean Garrett.
