U.K. CHARTS: ROBBIE’S RECORD-BREAKING WEEK

Robbie Williams had a rather successful week in Blighty: After a widely praised intimate gig on Monday, he scored a record-breaking 12th solo U.K. Official Albums #1 with The Heavy Entertainment Show (Columbia). It notched up 67k combined sales, and with 12 #1s, Williams now has the highest ever for a U.K. solo artist, passing David Bowie, who boasts 11.

The album is his first under a new deal with Jason Iley’s Sony. Iley, whose imprints have now claimed #1 on the album chart for four weeks on the trot, said: “Everyone at Sony feels incredibly privileged and fortunate to be working with Robbie as well as playing a part in helping him to make history. It’s an amazing achievement for Robbie which is hugely deserved.”

Williams was awarded the BRITs Icon gong at The Troxy in London on Monday, where his former bandmates Take That made an on-stage appearance. The star will undertake a 31-date stadium and arena tour spanning 18 countries next year.

This week’s #2 is a collaboration between Michael Ball and Alfie Boe, Together (Decca). Elvis Presley’s The Wonder of You (Sony Music CG) drops to #3 and Michael Buble’s Nobody But Me (Warner) dips to #4. New at #5 is Bon Jovi’s This House Is Not For Sale (Virgin EMI).

There’s a fresh #1 on the Official Singles Chart thanks to Atlantic stars Clean Bandit (pictured). “Rockabye” f/Annie Marie and Sean Paul claims this week’s top spot during its third week on sale with 72k combined chart sales (37k downloads and 3.5m streams).

Last week’s #1, “Shout Out to My Ex” (SYCO) by Little Mix is at #2, followed by “Say You Won’t Let Go” (SYCO) by James Arthur at #3. The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “Starboy” (Island) stays put at #4 and Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” (Atlantic) is up one place to #5.
