Latin superstar singer, songwriter and producer Romeo Santos has been signed to a brand new worldwide deal with Universal Music Publishing Group, marking the first time the artist has been represented by a major music publisher.
Santos is a hugely successful songwriter as well as a multi-platinum artist. “The King of Bachata” has had more #1 hits this decade than any other artist and was named ASCAP Latin Songwriter of the Year for five years in a row. This year, he was honored with ASCAP’s 2016 Songwriter/Artist of the Year.
UMPG will represent all of Santos' solo works, including the RIAA Diamond certified album Formula Vol.2., five-time platinum album Formula Vol.1, The King Stays King: Sold Out At Madison Square Garden plus Santos' highly anticipated third solo studio album due in 2017.
"I’m extremely proud to welcome Romeo Santos to the Universal Music Publishing family," said Jody Gerson, UMPG Chairman and CEO. "He’s an inspiring artist and top songwriter who is conquering the world on his own terms. I can’t wait to hear what’s next."
“I have known Romeo for many years, and as a Latin artist and songwriter he is as big as it gets. His massive appeal as an artist crosses all genres and borders, and we look forward to helping further expand opportunities for him in both the Anglo and Latino markets,” added Alexandra Lioutikoff, UMPG EVP/Latin Music.
