SONY/ATV'S MONACO GOES GLOBAL

Brian Monaco has been upped to President/Global Chief Marketing Officer at Sony/ATV, pubco chieftain Marty Bandier has announced.

Monaco, who joined the company in 2012 after its acquisition of EMI Music Publishing and most recently held the post of Worldwide Head of Advertising, Film & TV, will continue to oversee the company’s sync efforts in his new role, with an expanded purview that includes growing markets including China. Sony/ATV’s sync department has done blockbuster biz of late, with a plurality of Super Bowl 50 spots, much Beatles licensing and a Monaco-led deal on a huge Coca-Cola campaign, among other wins.

“With the revenue from film, TV and commercials now more significant than what we generate from CDs and digital downloads, the role of running our sync division has become even more important for us,” Bandier proclaimed. “I don’t believe there is anybody more qualified to fill that role than Brian. He understands sync and the marketing and promotion of our catalog better than anyone and has built a best-in-class team and modern infrastructure to maximize the value of our songs. With his new responsibilities Brian will be able to take this area of our business to even greater heights.”

Added Monaco, “Sony/ATV’s vast catalog is ripe with songs that connect with audiences and play well for television, film, gaming, virtual reality and across other platforms. I’m grateful for the support Marty has given the sync team to develop innovative opportunities and partnerships to monetize our library for our songwriters.”
