The Place Where Radio and Records come Together Without Talking
FLORA CASH-"You're Somebody Else"

We have something happening here with Flora Cash's "You're Somebody else."  This week the three spin leaders KRBZ Kansas City, WRFF Philadelphia and KRAB Bakersfield all have the song ranking in Shazam in their markets.  The one thing I have noticed with Modern Rock is that if you see something like this with a new artist the potential is sky high.  A good example of that recently was AJR's "Sober Up" and Alice Merton's "No Roots."  Both of those records went #1 and early on Shazams were big from the get go.

BASTILLE-Quarter Past Midnight

Bastille's new single "Quarter Past Midnight" had a spectacular first week at Modern Rock radio with 60 adds and this one will be a future #1 contender.  The first week of streaming was strong as well with 1 million streams.

KNDD SEATTLE-Summercamp 2018

I have a real soft spot with Chvrches. I am a big fan of their music.  The new single "Miracle" sounds great and will have a strong run at radio.  Check it out!

Bastille's "Quarter Past Midnight" (Capitol) had a huge debut with 60 adds, and was this week's Most Added record. Arctic Monkeys' "Four Out Of Five" (Domino) also had a fantastic debut with 40+ adds. Other winners include Florence + The Machine's "Hunger"(Republic), Houndmouth's "This Party" (Warner Bros.), Foo Fighters' "The Line" (RCA), Walk The Moon's "Kamikaze" (RCA) and AJR's "Burn The House Down" (AJR/BMG).

Lovelytheband's "Broken" (RED) comfortably remains #1 for a fifth week. Two Feet's "I Feel Like I'm Drowning" (Republic) enters the Top 10. Beck's "Colors" (Capitol) arrives in the Top 15, up 150 spins. Florence + The Machine's "Hunger" (Republic) has a monster debut at #23, up 450 spins. And Foo Fighters' "The Line" (RCA) makes its chart debut.

Florence + The Machine's "Hunger" (Republic) was this week's Most Added record. Other winners include Foo Fighters' "The Line" (RCA), Mt. Joy's "Silver Lining" (Dualtone) and Walk The Moon's "Kamikaze" (RCA).

iGEN Alt Streaming-May 4

I know we are all discussing streaming numbers currently.  This chart represents the top current alt tracks in the Top 50 from the Mediabase radio chart in relation to streaming.  I get my numbers from Spotify and Apple which makes up the vast majority of the streams.  It's only audio streams as I do not include video streams. This week we see a Spotify statement coming from King Princess's "1950."  It's something to clearly check out. AJR's follow up "Burn The House Down" looks legit as the numbers increase from last month to over 700k weekly. Electronic music also streams as you will see a real good debut from Odesza with about 500k. Fall Out Boy's new track is the best streaming numbers we have seen since "Champion." If you are in the rock business Bad Wolves is a winner. Some encouraging numbers with new songs from Mt.Joy, Bishop Briggs, and Wombats. Once a record goes to recurrent it leaves this chart but the long tail with streaming is still very strong.  Recent hits from AJR, Imagine Dragons, Walk The Moon and Alice Merton among others would all still be highly charted if we included recurrents.
