Naomi Sharon (OVO Sound)
11/9/23

WHAT IT IS: Following an Instagram DM from Drake in 2019, Caribbean-Dutch singer-songwriter Naomi Sharon became the first female artist signed to the rapper’s OVO Sound label. Sharon attended theater school in her hometown of Rotterdam before dropping out to pursue her career. After years of performing in productions like The Lion King, Dream Girls and Tina: The Musical, the rising star had to undergo vocal surgery, leading her to eventually shift her focus to her own music. After dropping tracks like “Another Life,” “Definition of Love” and “Celestial” earlier this year, she released her OVO debut album, Obsidian. Drawing on the natural, spiritual and celestial realms and filled with poetic imagery, the project portrays a singular new soul talent with global appeal, pulling from a wealth of inspirations to create a sprawling yet seductive sonic palette.
