WHAT IT IS: Following an Instagram DM from Drake in 2019, Caribbean-Dutch singer-songwriter Naomi Sharon became the first female artist signed to the rapper’s OVO Sound label. Sharon attended theater school in her hometown of Rotterdam before dropping out to pursue her career. After years of performing in productions like The Lion King, Dream Girls and Tina: The Musical, the rising star had to undergo vocal surgery, leading her to eventually shift her focus to her own music.
