THEY’RE THE PLUGS
4/28/21

Icons+giants’ Founders Billy Mann and Benton James have officially launched their new series, The Plug.

Allowing creators to submit beats and song for a chance to be featured and reviewed by the icons+giants’ A&R team, The Plug series arrives on the heels of their exclusive partnership and JV with Warner’s ADA Worldwide.

“There’s always a shortage of access to decision makers even while the internet is, of course, packed with scouts hunting data-driven artists in search of ‘safer bets.’ But we want to find matching ambition and to hear from artists who let their music do the heavy lifting and leave the hype at home,” said Mann.

“‘The Plug’” is an opportunity to meet today’s social media centric creative community more closely and give more opportunities for talent to take a swing at submitting music to executives who can actually move the needle,” added James.

With over 25 years of industry experience, Grammy-nominated Mann has sold 110m+ albums as a producer/songwriter. As an exec, he’s served as President of International and CCO of EMI Music Global as well as President of Creative at BMG North America. A longtime collaborator of P!nk, Mann has discovered the likes of Teddy Geiger, Emma Stone, Alex Aiono, Pablo Alboran and TikTok stars Charli and Dixie D’Amelio.

James began his career penning songs for TV and producing alongside the likes of RedOne and Mutt Lang before discovering and signing Grammy-nominated talent like Supah Mario (Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Tory Lanez) and Ciscero. Previously the Head of Urban A&R for Red Bull Songs, James also inked K-so Jaynes, Mike Gazzo and TwhyXclusive and delivered records with artists like of Trippie Redd, Drake, Wiz Khalifa and Kelly Rowland.
