WHAT IT IS: This young British newcomer, known for his remarkable ability to autonomously create and perform music, has been championed by both Zane Lowe, who has supported since the start of 2014, and BBC’s Annie Mac, who chose his “Weathered” as her Song of the Week this past June. Garratt’s self-written, self-performed, self-recorded and largely self-produced album garnered praise from the New York Times, which stated, “Phase is a virtuosic, thrill-packed album.” This year, Jack was crowned the winner of BBC’s Sound of 2016 poll after named the BRITs’ Critics Choice for 2016. Previous winners of both awards include Adele and Sam Smith.
