WHAT IT IS: This dusky-voiced 20-year-old singer/songwriter from the mountains of Arizona makes indie pop that’s steeped in a magic of her own invention. Lacing her lyrical storytelling with sunlit melodies and heavy beats, the L.A.-based artist released her full-length debut Kicker—an intimate but gorgeously expansive album—then hit the road for a summer of festival and headline club dates. This month, she’s heading to Europe for her first international headline club tour, which will take her from the U.K. to Russia.
