THE B-SIDE
CHART CHAT
10/6/15

HITS' own Jesse Beer (CliprKid) and Naomi Robin (RockinRobin) jump on the web to discuss the newest adds on the radio charts this week, and you've got an inside look at their chat. Find out what's hot on their radar.

RockinRobin: So happy to hear JR JR's single “Gone” hit the Alt chart just before I'll see them at the Teragram Ballroom this weekend

CliprKid: Right? It reminds me a little bit of Paul Simon’s “Call Me Al,” with the similar drum sounds. Love the whistling too. Def sounds like it could be a song that will move up the chart

RockinRobin: Good call. I'm a big fan of Graceland... Maybe that’s why I like them so much? I’m also into Wolf Alice’s 2nd single to hit Alt, “Bros.” I was worried they’d be a one-hit wonder, but this track makes me want to delve deeper into their catalog

CliprKid: It feels like it needs a big sync, it’d be a good fit for something like The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It has a Of Monsters And Men feel...

RockinRobin: Totally. While I’m not into hard/emo rock these days, I have to admit it’s nice to hear Breaking Benjamin bring real rock back to the alt chart. Their #1 album release in June proves they still have a strong following

CliprKid: Can I just tell you how much of a fan I used to be of them? The ironic thing is that they’ve always been a heavy band yet they have great pop sensibility and this song is no different

RockinRobin: Agreed.

CliprKid: Switching lanes for a moment, lets talk about Tamar Braxton’s new single “Catfish.” Her album is slated to be #2 this week!

RockinRobin: She's the antithesis of a Do Nothin Bitch. As if being a three-time Grammy-nominated singer wasn't enough, she also stars on a TV show AND shows off her moves on Dancing W The Stars.

CliprKid: Yup. Agreed. Incredible

RockinRobin: Speaking of Urban debuts, Lil Wayne’s lyrics featured on August Alsina’s song are HILARIOUS

CliprKid: I am more into Big Sean’s "Play No Games.” It’s probably one of my favorite tracks on his album and it's now charting on both Urban and Rhythmic

RockinRobin: I wonder if it’s a message to Lil Ariana...

CliprKid: I think one song we can both agree on is the Sam Smith’s “Writing's On The Wall,” which he made for the new James Bond movie

RockinRobin: Hell yes. It’s an epic autumnal track. Fingers crossed they'll stick with the UK theme and get someone cool like James Blake to do a remix - that’d be SO dope.

CliprKid: Now THAT would be epic

RockinRobin: I’m going to take an epic nap to escape my allergies...
