The Sony publishing deal has passed its biggest remaining bureaucratic hurdle, having been cleared by EU regulators, meaning Sony/ATV will be 100% owned by Sony Corp. Sony's stake in EMI Music Publishing remains 30%. The $750m transaction has been in the works for some time; in addition to removing a certain amount of red tape, the conjoining of Sony's recording side and publishing unit should make the entire enterprise more aerodynamic.
