The list of L.A. fire-related cancellations continues to grow, with announcements that the Clio Music Awards , BMG pre-Grammy party and Downtown Music annual Grammy brunch have all been called off.
A message on the Clio Awards Instagram page said, “We have decided to cancel the Clio Music Awards ceremony, which was set to take place in L.A. on 1/30. A portion of the proceeds from this year’s program will go to MusiCares and It’s Bigger Than Us L.A., two organizations providing immediate and direct relief to people impacted by the ongoing natural disasters in Southern California.”
The post revealed the Clios’ future plans for the awards, saying “When the time is right, we will announce the Grand Clio and Of the Year winners on Clios.com and MuseByClios.com.”
Downtown joined the growing group of labels canceling their traditional Grammy events in light of the current situation on the ground in Los Angeles, by opting to forgo the label’s annual brunch. Instead, the group will be partnering with Kimpton La Peer Hotel, to donate to Musicares.
On its Instagram, Downtown wrote, “Our hearts go out to all the individuals, families and communities who have been affected by the wildfires and we extend our gratitude to the first responders and emergency personnel who are tirelessly working to protect lives during this crisis.”
BMG, the most recent organization to pull back from traditional Grammy week events, issued a statement saying "It is with heavy hearts that we announce BMG will no longer host its Pre-Grammy Party on Tuesday, 1/28. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we extend our deepest gratitude to the firefighters and first responders in Los Angeles County who are working tirelessly to contain the fires."
