U.K. MIDWEEKS: SABRINA BEARS FRUIT

With fruitcake (Polydor), Sabrina Carpenter is on track to earn her second U.K. Top 10 album. Also on the Official Singles midweek update, Mariah Carey leads a three-way holiday battle for #1.

fruitcake, a Christmas-themed EP released in 2023, has been boosted following the release of Carpenter’s Netflix special, A Nonsense Christmas. It’s set for a #2 entry on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart later this week.

Taylor Swift’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (EMI) is expected to hold on at #1 for a 10th non-consecutive week.

ROSÉ could be the first K-pop female solo act to secure a U.K. Top 5 album, with her debut solo LP, rosie (Atlantic), expected to bow at #4.

Hozier’s former #1, Unreal Unearth (Island), will likely return to the Top 10 at #8 thanks to the release of its deluxe edition. Another former chart-topper, Coldplay’s Moon Music (Parlophone), is back up 31 places to #11.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (Columbia) is currently at #1. The track has risen four places over the weekend following the airing of her Mariah Meets Rylan interview on BBC Two, plus the release of new CD, 12” and 7” vinyl variants to mark its 30th anniversary.

With less than 300 sales separating the Top 3, the top spot could go still go Tom Grennan’s Amazon exclusive, “It Can’t Be Christmas” (Insanity), which rises 23 places to #2, followed closely by WHAM!’s “Last Christmas” (Epic) at #3.

“That’s So True” (Interscope) by Gracie Abrams, which has remained at #1 for five weeks, drops down to #4.

Another new Christmas song climbing the ranks is Laufey’s “Christmas Magic” (Vingolf). The Icelandic-Chinese artist’s 2024 Amazon Original made its Top 40 debut last week at #39 and is tracking to rise 32 spots to #7.
