U.K. CHARTS: CHARLI XCX SCORES SECOND #1

Charli xcx has made it to the top of the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with BRAT (Atlantic) thanks to the release of its star-studded remix edition. On the singles chart, Sabrina Carpenter becomes the first artist in 71 years to spend 20 weeks at the top.

Brat and it's completely different but it's also still brat, which features such artists as Ariana Grande, The 1975, Kesha and Shygirl, takes the top spot in BRAT's 19th week on the chart. It previously peaked at #2 and is the U.K. artist's second #1 album at home.

With his latest solo release, The Mighty Several (EMI), Paul Heaton, formerly of The Housemartins and The Beautiful South, has his 20th Top 10 album. It's at #2.

James Blunt’s debut, Back to Bedlam (Atlantic), returns to the Top 10 for the first time in 18 years, at #7, coinciding with its 20th anniversary reissue.

Elsewhere, Lady Gaga’s Harlequin (Polydor), which previously peaked at #59, rises to #11 due to its release on physical formats. The Last Dinner Party’s debut, Prelude to Ecstasy (Island), rebounds into the Top 20 at #14 courtesy of its Acoustics & Covers version.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Carpenter becomes the first artist in 71 years to linger for 20 weeks in a single calendar year at the top. That’s the result of “Taste” (Island) spending an eighth consecutive week at #1. (The last and only other artist to achieve that feat was Frankie Laine back in 1953, when he tallied 28 weeks at #1.) "Taste" is now 2024’s longest-running #1 single. And Carpenter has another win today: “Bed Chem” enters at #9, securing her a fourth Top 10 hit from Short 'n Sweet.

“Die With a Smile” (Interscope) by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars reaches a new peak of #2. “Sailor Song” (Island) by Gigi Perez jumps three to #3. Gracie Adams has her first Top 10 single with “i love you, i’m sorry” (Interscope), which rises seven to #4. “Somedays” (Solotoko) by Sonny Fodera, Jazzy and D.O.D climbs three to #5.

Other tracks on the rise include “HOT TO GO!” (Island) by Chappell Roan, rebounding four to #6, and the remix of “Sympathy Is a Knife” (Atlantic) by Charli xcx and Grande, which enters the Top 10 at #7.
