Former One Direction singer Liam Payne died on Wednesday (10/16). He was 31. According to reports, Payne fell from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. No further details have been provided.

One Direction was formed in 2010 on the U.K. talent show The X Factor, where Payne auditioned as a solo artist but was grouped with Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. They went on to sell in excess of 70 million albums worldwide.

Payne, who later launched a solo career, was in Buenos Aires for one of Horan's concerts.
