UPDATE: SWIFTIES ANSWER THE CALL

UPDATE: The Swifties for Kamala official kickoff call went as planned Tuesday (8/27)—but with a few surprises. In addition to previously announced speakers Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and U.S. Reps. Becca Balint (D-Vermont) and Chris DeLuzio (D-Penn.), Rock Hall inductee Carole King and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) showed up for their fellow Swifties.

Warren acknowledged that there's "a tough fight ahead" but expressed how confident she is that "the era of the first woman president" will soon be upon us. She added, “We are standing up for what is right in the face of bullies like Donald Trump." She touched on Trump and the Republicans' plans to curtail women's reproductive rights and roll back environmental protections. She ended her remarks by proclaiming proudly, "We can get it done."

King, meanwhile, emphasized some of the ways people can get involved; after divulging her favorite Swift song, "Shake It Off," she encouraged viewers to volunteer to make calls and knock on doors. “Speak your heart," she said. "You are there to build a bridge... There's nothing to lose and everything to gain. The key is listening. Don’t be afraid. There’s too much at stake.”

With the goal of "turning Swifty power into political power," Swifties for Kamala vowed to help provide the tools and resources necessary to get Harris and running mate Tim Walz into the White House.

SFK raised more than $120,000 during the 90-minute call, a testament to the fierce force of superfans forming a united front. Somewhere, Trump is crying to Midnights.

Election-obsessed bizniks are eagerly awaiting the Swifties for Kamala kickoff call, slated for Tuesday (8/27) at 4pm PT/7pm ET. The event follows a string of big Zooms and other online gatherings that have racked up a mountain of funds and long lists of volunteers for the Harris-Walz campaign.

While the confirmed speakers include Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (New York) and Ed Markey (Massachusetts) and U.S. Reps. Becca Balint (Vermont) and Chris DeLuzio (Pennsylvania), rumor has it a couple of higher-profile names will join the list. Of course, the $64,000 question is whether or not Taylor Swift herself will make an appearance. Although Tay has not endorsed a candidate in the presidential contest yet, she has been very vocal about encouraging her fans to vote. One thing's for sure: The only place she'd ever endorse the other guy is in Trump's addled imagination.

In any event, expect this call to feature more than a few pissed-off "cat ladies" and plenty of other folks who are ready to rumble. As of earlier this month, Tay has more than 550 million social-media followers.
