Ramones fans looking to “hitch a ride to Rockaway Beach” just got a little help from Rhino and NYC Ferry, which are teaming up for a two-day event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the band’s first public show, at CBGB on 8/16/74.
Today (8/16) and tomorrow, Rhino is curating three custom “Rockaway Route” commutes from Manhattan to Rockaway Beach, with boats leaving several times a day. The ferries will be decked out in full Ramones regalia and feature a soundtrack composed entirely of the band’s songs.
The beverage list will include Rockaway Soda; raffles and giveaways will keep pinheads, brats and regular folks amused.
Ramones mania will continue next month when Vinyl Me, Please offers an exclusive pressing of the Ramones' Rocket to Russia as its September 2024 Essentials Record of the Month and a 40th anniversary pressing of Too Tough to Die as its Rock Record of the Month.
Despite the heat and humidity, HITS is digging out that crusty leather jacket to "Cretin Hop" our way to the boat and will probably cut you in line.
