SONY, DUOLINGO GET INSTRUCTIONAL

Proving that music really is the universal language, Sony Music is teaming up with mobile learning platform Duolingo for a project that will bring dozens of top tracks to the latter's music course.

Boasting songs by Hozier, Meghan Trainor, Whitney Houston and Dove Cameron, the program will guide Duolingo users through such tasks as reading music, understanding different note lengths and identifying notes by sound, sight and key on a digital mobile piano.

“Partnering with Duolingo gives us the opportunity to bring our artists' music to a new platform that promotes learning and cultural exchange," said Sony Music SVP, Licensing, Jessica Shaw. "Music has the power to unite and inspire and this partnership will help learners engage with music education in a meaningful and enjoyable way."

To get a closer look at the updates to the music course, tune into Duocon, the brand’s flagship global event, on 9/24. Register for the confab here.

Finally, a way for HITS to expand our repertoire beyond “Louie, Louie."
