In another major move for Indian rap acts, Punjabi star AP Dhillon has signed to Republic Records, in partnership with Universal Music Canada, and dropped a new single, "Old Money."
Dhillon, who has scored several international hits since emerging in 2019, also directed the "Old Money" video, which stars Bollywood veterans Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt. "I came up with a concept that was influenced by all my favorite action movies, and Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt showed up and killed it," Dhillon said.
"AP Dhillon is not only an incredible artist who continues to defy gravity in real time but a shrewd visionary with a global reach that has already sparked a cultural revolution," offered REPUBLIC founder/Chairman Monte Lipman. Added Dhillon, "Republic Records always saw the vision. They got and understood who I am from day one. We’re all in harmony when it comes to this new music, and I can’t wait to show everybody what we’ve been cooking up.”
Feeling the global rhythms above are REPUBLIC founder/Vice Chairman Avery Lipman, Monte Lipman, Dhillon and Universal Music Canada Chairman/CEO Jeffrey Remedios. Once again, HITS was not invited to lunch.
