Despite the torrential downpour in Paris, the Seine was overflowing with Team U.S.A. spirit on Friday (7/26) as the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony got underway.
With the Olympic rings illuminated at the top of the Eiffel Tower, the spectacle also included dancing, fire and lots and lots of boats. But performances by Lady Gaga and French metal band Gojira undoubtedly stole the show. Gaga donned a little black dress and pink feathers to perform Zizi Jeanmaire's 1961 "Mon Truc En Plumes" ("My Thing With Feathers"), sailing through the song from the banks of the Seine.
Shortly after her appearance, Gaga penned a tweet, saying, "I feel so completely grateful to have been asked to open the Paris @Olympics 2024. I am also humbled to be asked by the Olympics organizing committee to sing such a special French song—to honor the French people and their tremendous history of art, music and theater."

A cadre of guillotined Marie Antoinettes, pyrotechnics and blood-red streamers peppered Gojira's performance as the quartet roared from the riverside Conciergerie, the residence of French kings during the medieval period, while opera singer Marina Viotti floated by.
Of course, this is just the beginning. We defy you to hold back the tears while viewing this performance by Celine Dion. It is incroyable.
It's the singer's first performance since halting her touring schedule and stepping away from the spotlight after being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022.
Also, enjoy this clip of Gojira. And don't forget to check out Snoop Dogg carrying the Olympic torch, which he likely wished he could smoke.
