TOTO'S PORCARO PACTS WITH PRIMARY WAVE

Toto co-founder Steve Porcaro has inked a deal for his publishing catalog, artist royalties and neighboring rights with Primary Wave Music. The partnership covers Porcaro's share of such Toto smashes as "Rosanna," "Hold the Line" and "Africa."

The deal also encompasses the rights to songs like the Porcaro co-write "Human Nature" that were purchased jointly with the Michael Jackson estate. The Thriller track was a Top 10 Pop hit.

Porcaro, who is managed by Jed Weitzman, has increasingly moved into film and TV composition in recent years, including for the FX show Justified. He split from Toto in 1987 but has written songs and performed with the band occasionally in the decades since.

“We are thrilled to welcome Steve Porcaro to the Primary Wave family," said the company's David Weitzman. "His career arc from being a first-call touring and session musician to co-founding Toto and writing songs with Michael Jackson in his home studio is a story for the ages.”

Look for a Porcaro solo album before too long, as Primary Wave says he "is putting the finishing touches" on the follow-up to 2016's Someday/Somehow. Hurry, boy—it's waiting there for you!
