ON AND ON: In their first Los Angeles-area appearance in three years, The Rolling Stones bring their Hackney Diamonds Tour to SoFi Stadium tonight (7/10) and Saturday. The audience will surely be packed with celebs and music-biz execs eager for one more look at Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who are, somehow, both 80. The War and Treaty will open tonight, with The Linda Lindas filling that role Saturday.
Although the set lists have followed a fairly predictable formula, the Stones are playing one song per night voted on by fans, which have included “Street Fighting Man,” “Shattered” and “She’s a Rainbow.” The tour concludes 7/17 in Santa Clara, California, and 7/21 in Ridgedale, Missouri.
ON THE SIDELINE: Queens of the Stone Age (WME) have abruptly canceled the remaining eight dates of their European tour to allow frontman and founder Josh Homme to fly back to Los Angeles for emergency surgery. The band did not reveal the nature of the issue; Homme underwent successful treatment for cancer in 2023.
The affected shows include appearances at European festivals—many of which QOTSA were headlining—in France, Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Romania, Croatia and Greece. As of now, the band’s North American fall tour is still scheduled to get underway 9/27 in Boston.
