Buoyed by a Taylor Swift duet and a high-profile guest appearance with her last week in London, Gracie Abrams scores her first #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with The Secret of Us (Interscope). Over on the singles tally, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” (Island) spends a second week at the top.
The Secret of Us, Abrams’ sophomore album, betters the #3 U.K. peak of her 2023 debut, Good Riddance. After spending seven nonconsecutive weeks at #1, Swift’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (EMI) moves down to #2. It’s one of six Swift albums in the Top 40 thanks to her recent U.K. Eras Tour dates.
Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (KRA/Island) hits a new peak at #6, while The Mysterines have their second Top 40 entry, with Afraid of Tomorrows (Fiction) landing at #11.
On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, “Please Please Please” logged another 8.6m plays as the most-streamed track in the country for a second week in a row. Carpenter also has the #2 spot with her former chart-topper, “Espresso.”
“Good Luck, Babe!” by Roan is her first U.K. Top 10 single, at #7. It’s one of three tracks from the aforementioned set in the new Top 40, with “HOT TO GO!” at #33 and “Red Wine Supernova” at #40.
Tommy Richman's “DEVIL IS A LIE” (ISO Supremacy) jumps from #47 to #21 in its second week, and Coldplay’s “feelslikeimfallinginlove” (Parlophone) is the highest new entry, at #25. The group is one of the headliners this weekend at the U.K.'s Glastonbury Festival.
