WMG TAPS RYAN-SOUTHERN TO LEAD M&A

WMG has named finance veteran Michael Ryan-Southern EVP, Corporate Development. The former global head of Music & Live Entertainment Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs will oversee M&A and report to CEO Robert Kyncl. Based in New York, Ryan-Southern will start at WMG on 8/5.

“The market is filled with opportunities, in both recorded music and music publishing, and across different geographies,” said Kyncl. “We’re bullish on the long-term value of music, and having someone with Michael’s domain expertise and wide-ranging network run point on M&A will supercharge our efforts.”

At Goldman Sachs Ryan-Southern led landmark deals throughout the entertainment industry. Prior to joining Goldman in 2021, he spent eight years in senior leadership positions at Mubadala Capital and Mubadala Investment Company portfolio companies, including as deputy CFO of EMI Music Publishing and president of the Hakkasan Group.
