Warner Music has revamped its Música Mexicana division, with President of WM Mexico & Música Mexicana Tomas Rodríguez leading the operation from Mexico City.
GM of Música Mexicana Rubén Abraham will oversee A&R and marketing from WMG's Los Angeles office.
The newly formed A&R team consists of Director of A&R Brian Plascencia, Associate Director of A&R Armando López and Senior Manager of A&R Cesar Carrillo.
Formerly with UMG, Plascencia was West Coast Label Manager of Machete Music, where he launched and developed the careers of such artists as El Potro de Sinaloa, Fidel Rueda, Larry Hernandez and Roberto Tapia. López brings more than a decade of industry experience, with a background in marketing, musical production and concert promotion. He joined Warner Music last year after working at Creative Channels Mexico. Carrillo joins the squad with more than 18 years of experience in música Mexicana.
Maria Angela Batiz, director of marketing, Música Mexicana, will continue to play a key role in the department.
"The expertise, adaptability and market acumen of our enhanced Música Mexicana team will bolster our vision for the genre's development and globalization, cementing Warner Music as a driver of the scene," said Rodríguez (pictured at right).
"We're primed to offer the industry's premier platform for the genre, supported by top-notch professionals and tailored negotiation options that cater to both the present needs and future prospects of Música Mexicana," added Abraham (at left).
