FRANK ZAPPA DAY DECLARED IN WEST HOLLYWOOD

West Hollywood Mayor John M. Erickson has declared 6/10 Frank Zappa Day in honor of the late singer, guitarist and contrarian political activist, who died in 1993.

Ahmet and Diva Zappa, the children of Frank and Gail Zappa, will receive the proclamation from Erickson at the storied Whisky a Go Go, a Sunset Strip rock club, at 4pm PT.

Zappa and his band the Mothers of Invention played a three-hour concert at the Whisky on 7/23/1968 for an album that was never finished. The record will finally be released as Whisky a Go Go, 1968 on 6/21. It compiles the entirety of Zappa and the Mothers’ three sets that night.

A Zappa quote that’s still relevant: “If you end up with a boring, miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.”
