SALTBURN FIRES UP Y2K NOSTALGIA

Buzzing film Saltburn has launched a few Y2K-era songs onto DSP charts, including Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder on the Dancefloor" (Polydor/Casablanca/Republic) and The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" (Island).

Bextor, who signed to Polydor in the U.K. and Casablanca/Republic in the U.S. over two decades ago, is earning the biggest lift from the Amazon flick. The song plays a huge role at the end of the film—we won't spoil it for you, but it's a very, uh, large moment. "Murder on the Dancefloor" (2002) began surging on Spotify 12/31 and now sits just outside the global Top 50. The song rose to #3 in the U.K. this week.

"Mr. Brightside" (2004), which has emerged as one the aughts' biggest rock anthems, is also featured prominently in the film. The song soared to #12 in the U.K.
