The 2024 Oscar shortlists are here, and IGA, following an extraordinary showing in the major Grammy categories, is celebrating a significant share of the shortlisted titles for Best Original Song. These include the Barbie hit "What Was I Made for" by Darkroom/Interscope's Billie Eilish, Geffen star Olivia Rodrigo's “Can’t Catch Me Now” from The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbird and Snakes and “It Never Went Away” by Verve/Interscope's Jon Batiste from the Batiste documentary American Symphony. Oscar Shortlist voting begins Thursday, 1/11, and closes on 1/16.
Three Barbie songs appear on the Song shortlist, as do two cuts from the highly touted Color Purple ST. Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things and Maestro are among the most decorated titles overall.
