In an interview with Music Business Worldwide, Capitol Music Group Chair/CEO Michelle Jubelirer discusses the Tower rebuild she's led since taking the reins in 2021. She highlights key strategies for reinvigorating CMG, the executive leadership team that has supported the turnaround and the new wave of talent that's excelled during her two years in charge.
Along with major shifts in operations and culture and inking hot new acts like Ice Spice, Doechii (in partnership with TDE), Rylo Rodriguez and Young Miko, Jubelirer has ushered CMG to a 25% increase in market share year-over-year.
Among the artist success stories MJ focused on: Sam Smith’s smash "Unholy" f/Kim Petras; Doechii's nearing platinum certification for her hit single “What It Is (Block Boy)”—which was deemed TikTok’s fourth-biggest global track of 2023—and Ice Spice's already notching four Top 10 singles, 2b+ global streams and four 2024 Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist. CMG also presented a new single by a little band called The Beatles, which launched a global campaign for a track that helped it reach #1 in multiple territories.
