BLACK CROWES FLY HIGH IN “99 POUNDS” VIDEO
Black Crowes fans are buzzing about the band’s newly released video for its cover of the Ann Peebles-popularized '70s soul classic “99 Pounds,” which was filmed at the 1992 edition of the Great Atlanta Pot Festival.
More than 40,000 people turned up in their '90s finery for the herb-focused get-together, no small feat considering Georgia just opened its first legal medical marijuana dispensaries earlier this year. We got a contact high just by clicking on the YouTube link.
“99 Pounds” is drawn from the upcoming boxed set celebrating the Crowes’ 1992 sophomore album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, due 12/15 from American Recordings/UMe. It includes 14 previously unreleased tracks as well as the first authorized release of an oft-bootlegged 2/6/93 show in Houston.
Still led by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, the Crowes will return to the road for a massive headlining trek next year following the early '24 release of a new Jay Joyce-produced studio album.
The Crowes are of course managed by Red Light’s Mark DiDia, seen below hiding in the only place HITS couldn’t find him: the inside of a hockey goal.
