GEARING UP FOR GUTS

With the arrival of GUTS, the highly anticipated sophomore album by Olivia Rodrigo, just two weeks away, The New York Times has run a lengthy feature on the 20-year-old singer-songwriter.

The Times declares: "On GUTS, due 9/8 on Geffen, she is simply a rock star." The profile highlights multiple tracks, including album opener "all-american bitch," citing its "fuzzy power chords" and many f-bombs. The piece also delves into the pressure Rodrigo faces following the enormous success of her Grammy-winning debut, SOUR, along with the commitment she feels to her mostly young, female fan base.

So far O-Rod is clearing the bar; "vampire," the first single off GUTS, was 2023's biggest solo debut on Spotify, while the second, "bad idea right?," flew to #1 on the streamer's U.S. chart.

Rodrigo has earned five 2023 MTV VMA nominations, including Video of the Year and Song of the Year for "vampire."
